Treats, Reads & More helps Girl Scouts fund their opportunities

Treats, Reads & More helps Girl Scouts fund their opportunities

Individual members and troops in Girl Scouts NYPENN Pathways (GSNYPENN) are busy selling Treats, Reads & More (TRM) during the council’s annual fall food drive. Participating in online and in-person sales helps Girl Scouts earn important start-up funds to begin their new membership year while building lifelong entrepreneurial and leadership skills such as goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. “Treats” include tasty nuts and candies. New this season include vanilla-flavored honey-roasted pecans, butter-roasted peanuts, and Girl Scout themed holiday jars filled with chocolate-covered pretzels and peppermint treasures. “Reads” is a subscription to magazines such as Vogue, Bon Appetit and Better Homes & Gardens. “More” includes Girl Scout-themed Tervis and BarkBox tumblers for four-legged friends and family members.

During TRM, Girl Scouts also receive compensation based on the goals they set for themselves and the items they sell. This season’s Super Seller Award includes a special badge and experience with an Asian elephant at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse for those with more than $1,000 in sales by Nov. 12. (TRM’s 2024 mascot is an Asian elephant.) Girl Scouts can also make money. Experience credits help offset the costs of programs, membership fees, uniforms, travel, camp and more.

TRM products are sold through the Girl Scout online store using a unique URL and traditional order forms. The program began on October 1, and orders through forms continue to be accepted until today with the possibility of free delivery within the city. Customers can still purchase items online for direct delivery until November 12th. Orders placed via forms will arrive around the week commencing November 18th.

New for 2024

The community can order products online here to support the council’s tourist squad.

Troops will set up more than 60 public kiosks throughout GSNYPENN beginning November 2nd (with a special emphasis on Election Day) through November 11th. This is the first opportunity to support your local Girl Scouts and purchase TRM products in person. see locations and times below.

Customers can also purchase items to donate through Sweet Support. For every $6 donated, one jar of treats goes to Operation Gratitude. Click here for more information.

All TRM revenue remains in place. To support Girl Scouts, contact Help Desk at 315-698-9400, 800-943-4414, [email protected] or through Let’s Chat at: gsnypenn.org to contact a person or team participating in the program in your area.
