Tom Hanks remembers being a guest of Jimmy Stewart (exclusive)

Tom Hanks can remember “every moment” he saw the Hollywood legend’s home.

Hanks visited Jimmy Stewarthome in 1989, when they were photographed together for a special issue of the magazine. Life magazine. It was “a beautiful house,” as Hanks remembers it on the red carpet at the world premiere of his film. new movie Here at AFI Fest in Los Angeles on Friday, October 25th.

“He had absolutely no memorabilia from his career,” Hanks reports. “Nobody. Zero. He had nothing. No trace of the film he made.”

The two-time Oscar winner admitted there were a few reminders of Stewart’s legendary film career, but not as many as there could have been. “He had a tiny figurine of Harvey the bunny on his bookshelf,” he says. This is a watercolor drawing of Pie. a horse that Stewart rode in many of his films. Hank Fonda, 1970s co-star Cheyenne Social Clubgave Stewart a picture of his favorite animal, which Hanks recalls Stewart saying died two weeks later.

“Would you forget such a story?” Hanks jokes.

Stewart, he adds, “used to live right across the street from Lucille Ball… What are these parties like?”
