Every NFL Team’s Playoff Odds (What the Table Looks Like Mid-Season)

Every NFL Team’s Playoff Odds (What the Table Looks Like Mid-Season)

We’re approaching the halfway point of the 2024 NFL season, so now is a good time to evaluate the latest NFL playoff odds.

You can look at the latest playoff picture along with each team’s remaining schedule and guess which teams will make the postseason, but if you want the most accurate representation of each team’s chances, your best bet is to look at the betting odds. With that in mind, I went ahead and compiled what the playoff bracket for each conference would most likely look like based on these exact betting odds.

Let’s dive into this.

All specified coefficients are indicated through Bookmaker DraftKings

AFC playoff odds

Based on the odds, the most likely seven teams to make the playoffs this season are the Chiefs, Bills, Texans, Ravens, Steelers, Chargers and Bengals. The Broncos, who currently hold the No. 1 wild card spot, have a lower chance of making the playoffs than the 3-5 Bengals. They are currently the No. 1 team, with the Colts following at +130. After these two teams, the Dolphins and Jets are next on the list. They’re both still alive, but they’ll have some work to do in the second half of the season.

The Chiefs, at 7-0, have reduced their odds against the DraftingKings, a sign that they are a virtual lock for postseason play.

If the bracket turns out exactly like this, then the first circle will look like this:

It’s like a fun weekend full of jokers. An AFC North duel between the Steelers and Ravens, a Joe Burrow vs. Josh Allen matchup, and a game between two dark horses in the Chargers and Texans.

NFC Playoff Odds

The first thing you’ll notice is that the divisional races in the NFC are more open compared to the AFC, but the wild card race is much more closed. The season isn’t even halfway through and there are already six teams with a -300 (75% implied probability) chance or less of making the playoffs.

If things go as the odds indicate, the seven NFC playoff teams will be the Lions, Eagles Falcons, 49ers, Commanders, Vikings and Packers. Even though the Chiefs, Vikings and Packers have a better chance of making the playoffs than the 49ers, San Francisco gets the No. 4 seed because it has the best odds of any team NFC West.

Based on the coefficients above, the grid will look like this:

The Packers and Eagles will play a rematch of their Week 1 game in Brazil. Kirk Cousins would welcome his former team, the Vikings, to Atlanta. The dark horse Commanders will hit the road to take on last year’s NFC champion 49ers.

A lot could change in the coming weeks and months, but it’s always interesting to use the betting market to see where things stand mid-season.

Odds are updated periodically and are subject to change.
