Dobson Announces Coalition of 345 Women Leaders and Activists to Support Congressional Campaign

Alabama Republican congressional candidate Carolyn Dobson’s campaign will reach out to hundreds of women leaders and activists in the final days of the campaign to get voters to the polls.

Dobson’s campaign announced the creation of a new coalition, Women for Dobson, of 345 women who are leaders, community activists and others in a press release Tuesday. According to a press release, the women “will aim to push voters to the polls in the final week of the campaign.”

In a statement, Dobson said she was thrilled to receive the support of women to help her campaign in the final week before the Nov. 5 election. Dobson will face Democratic opponent Shomari Figures in what is considered the most competitive race in Alabama’s November election.

“Working together, we can fix the broken system in D.C., prioritize the issues that truly matter to the residents of the Second Congressional District, and bring better days to all Americans,” Dobson said in a statement.

Coalition formation is underwayabortion and reproductive rights received attention during the campaign season. Dobson is a proponent of allowing states to decide on abortion rights, and that exceptions should be created for cases of rape, incest and the life of the mother. She also said she supports in vitro fertilization, adding that the IVF process “creates the miracle of life for those who never thought they could ever have children or a family.”

Among Dobson’s supporters in the new coalition is Montgomery County Commissioner Rhonda Walker, who said she expects Dobson – if elected – to “bring practical, common-sense solutions” for Alabama families.

“As women, mothers and community members, we understand what is at stake in this election,” Montgomery County Commissioner Rhonda Walker said in a statement. “She listens to women’s concerns and knows how important it is to have someone in Washington who stands up for families, our faith and our future.”

Shally Garrison, a former director of the Eufaula Chamber of Commerce and a community volunteer, said Dobson’s intellect and drive to find workable solutions to problems plaguing the United States motivated her to join the coalition.

“She clearly understands the needs of our district and has the intelligence, energy and dedication to make a difference,” Garrison said in a statement.

Dobson’s coalition formation came after Figures invited several national Democrats to visit Alabama during the final week of the campaign. Texas Democratic U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett joined the Numbers campaign on Sunday. during an event in Montgomery, and Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder also came to Mobile on Monday to campaign.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, the House minority leader, is expected to be in Montgomery on Thursday to campaign on the numbers.

The Numbers campaign was not immediately available Tuesday to respond to Dobson’s coalition, which includes Debra Davis, a cattle farm operator near Troy. Dobson, whose family has deep agricultural roots in Alabama, was endorsed by the Alabama Farmers Federation.

“Carolyn Dobson isn’t just another candidate—she genuinely cares about the challenges we face, whether it’s the rising cost of living or balancing work and family,” Davis said.
