Weather Alert: Severe storms may return Wednesday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The potential for severe weather returns to south-central and eastern Kansas on Wednesday, so we have issued a weather warning for the area from Storm Group 12. A severe threat should occur in and around Wichita from 2 to 4 p.m. and then the storms will move east as the cold front continues to move forward. The rain will stop by 10pm Wednesday.

Expect another windy day Wednesday with a wide range of temperatures from west to east, with highs in the upper 40s near Goodland but warming to the mid-70s near Wichita. During the day the wind will change to northwest.

Halloween will be a calmer, quieter day with highs near 60 and sunshine across the region. Wind speed will drop below 15 meters per second.

Another strong system should develop across the western U.S. this coming weekend, returning Kansas and the Plains to some good, strong rain. Scattered thunderstorms will begin late Friday and continue through Election Day. Most of the activity on Saturday will likely be fairly scattered, but the rain will really become more widespread on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Some locations are expected to receive 2-5 inches of rain, which looks likely to fall over the eastern half of the state.
