Sean “Diddy” Combs Sued for Alleged Sexual Abuse of a 10-Year-Old Child

Combs’ alleged texts read in court

In May 2024, CNN published an excerpt from hotel surveillance video from 2016, in which appeared to show Combs attacking his then-girlfriend Cassieborn Cassandra Ventura. (The attack coincided with an alleged incident detailed in a lawsuit she filed against Combs on Nov. 16, 2023; both sides announced a settlement the next day.)

“I was delighted. I hit rock bottom,” Combs said in a video posted to Instagram in response to the footage. “But I’m not looking for excuses. My behavior in this video is unforgivable. I take full responsibility for my actions in this video.” He has since undergone therapy and rehabilitation, he added, and has been “committed to getting better every day.”

During a Sept. 18 hearing on Combs’ second bail request, Assistant U.S. Atty. Emily Johnson said, according to NBC News, that Combs allegedly sent the message days after the attack. it said, “Call me, the cops are here.” Another read: “I have six children. Call me, I’m surrounded.”

Johnson did not name Cassie in court. She said Combs’ victim responded in a text message: “It hurts that you think it’s okay to do what you did.”

Bail was again denied, this time by a U.S. District Judge. Andrew L. Carter Jr.
