The proposal is quite substantial: about 500 acres of land in the northern part of the city. In the spring, Mayor Ivan St. Vincent told SteinbachOnline that the annexation is critical. for the city’s growth, noting that the need for additional land is urgent.

The city has seen a surge in residential development and there is still hope for a new school. Even though about 300 acres of the proposed land has a pipeline running underneath it, making it unusable, the city is optimistic about what the annexation could bring.
