Braintree firefighters rescue woman from burning house

Firefighters rescued a woman from a burning house in Braintree on Tuesday evening.

According to Acting Fire Chief Frederick Viola, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Braintree 911 dispatch received a call reporting a fire at 190 Jefferson St. with people trapped inside.

Firefighters who arrived at the scene were directed to the side of the building where a woman was in the second floor window. “Smoke is coming out of it,” Viola said.

Crews used a ground ladder to rescue the resident from the window, and a “second resident inside” was able to get out on his own, Viola said.

Both residents were taken to a Boston hospital for treatment of minor burns and smoke inhalation, Viola said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the state fire department.

No firefighters were injured in the incident, and Viola praised their actions.

“Outstanding work by the Braintree firefighters tonight,” Viola said.
