Here’s What Drew Can Do to Save His Political Campaign on General Hospital

Here’s What Drew Can Do to Save His Political Campaign on General Hospital

General Hospital mystery solved. Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Matheson) confessed to Michael Corinthos (temporarily played by Robert Adamson) that he kissed Willow Corinthos (Kathleen McMullen). He had no choice because he got into a bar fight with a drunken Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), who blurted out that Drew had kissed Willow and also slept with her mother Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

Drew’s candidacy for Congress is now in jeopardy as news spreads like wildfire, but there is one thing he should have done all along that would help him win.

Ace in the hole

Even until recently, every time Willow spoke gushingly about Drew, she mentioned that he saved her life. She’s referring to the fact that when she had leukemia, she needed a bone marrow transplant, and Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) they were a perfect couple. However, Obrecht was kidnapped by the villain Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) when he has carried out his diabolical plan to release a pathogen that will kill 80% of the world’s population..

Fortunately, a group of heroes from Port Charles, led by Laura Collins (Jean Francis), thwarted Victor’s plan, Obrecht was saved, and Willow’s life was saved by a transplant. Drew was part of that team.

So, to say that Drew saved her life is technically true, but it was a group effort and not only Willow, but the entire human civilization was saved. This is an ace in the hole that Drew should use in his political campaign. Everyone in Port Charles seems to have forgotten the fact that they were inches away from death and that they were all saved by the crew.

When the secret of his kissing Willow becomes public, and the fact that he is sleeping with her mother, it will be the death knell for his political career. While the media will be discussing this scandal like ants on sugar cubes, all he has to do is stand on the podium and say:

Yeah. It was me. I helped save the world

Drew must tell the story of what happened and all will be forgiven. Of course, his opponent will still continue to dig up Drew’s dirty laundry, but say it with us:

He saved the world!

This should supersede everything else and probably make it a win-win. However, he has completely gone against his morals by doing the same thing he did to Willow and Nina, and he needs to re-evaluate his moral compass in order to become the honest politician he claims he will be. Due to this, his role in saving the world will have a huge impact on every person who is looking for an idealist to vote for.
