Humane Society ‘Stunned’ by Current Taylor Swift 50/50 Giveaway Jackpot

It’s time to enter the Kitchener, Waterloo and Stratford Perth Humane Society’s raffle, where the winner will walk away with a significant cash prize and a pair of Taylor Swift tickets.

The deadline to purchase tickets is Thursday at 11:59 p.m.. and the excitement at the Humane Society reached a new level.

CTV News Walked into Kitchener on Wednesday and Humane Society development director Jordan Baker was dressed as Taylor Swift.

“We joked about different milestones, achievements and how someone would have to dress up. Now that someone is me, and here we are,” Baker said.

Baker’s colleague and CFO Thomas Hemming was dressed as Swift’s boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs football star Travis Kelce.

Hemming joked that if the jackpot reached $300,000, they might have to raise the stakes. By mid-afternoon Wednesday, the jackpot had topped $226,000.

The lucky winner will also receive two tickets to Swift’s concert in Toronto on November 15th.

“Honestly, I’m just stunned. This is amazing. And that really speaks to how well the community responded to it,” Bailer said.

With more than $450,000 raised, half of it will go to the Humane Society.

“So here it is used for our programs,” Baker said. “This in turn amounts to approximately 4,500 spayed or neutered animals. So that’s a really huge amount of money that we can use.”

Money raised will fund pet adoption programs, a veterinary clinic and other initiatives such as the construction of a new mobile veterinary clinic.

It looks like the Humane Society has chosen the right superstar to join their cause. The jackpot continues to grow before the drawing.

“You can thank Taylor for this, she’s such a special person,” Baker said as he looked at a cardboard cutout of Taylor Swift. “It honestly seemed like the perfect combination of values, the perfect combination of caring for animals. Taylor loves her cats. .. We love our cats. It was a perfect combination, and Taylor Swift is one of the biggest cultural phenomena right now.”
