City of Cañon City Announces 2025 Community Agency Funding Recipients – Canon City Daily Record

The City of Cañon City has announced the 2025 award recipients. Community Agency Funding.

On October 11, the Community Agencies Advisory Committee met with 19 local agencies that requested $80,578 in funding. budget 2025 provides $55,000 in funding for community agencies.

The following honorees were announced at the City Council meeting on October 18:

Boys and Girls Club of Fremont County, $2,500 for program supplies.

Cañon City Pregnancy Center, $4,400 for education and mentoring program.

Cañon City Pregnancy Center, $5,000 for physical resources.

Canyon Literacy Center, $3,000 for healthy snacks.

Canyon Literacy Center, $750 for Peak Reader program.

Canyon Literacy Center, $1,250 for books to take home.

Family Crisis Services, Inc., $2,240 for crisis hotline.

Fremont Adventure Recreation, $2,500 for 2025 Adventure Guide.

Crimestoppers of Fremont County – $2,000 for operating costs and rewards.

Fremont Search and Rescue, $1,200 for vehicle recovery equipment.

FSFC – Dolly Parton Imagination Library, $3,000 for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program.

Heart of Colorado CASA, $1,000 to train new attorneys.

Heart of Colorado CASA, $1,500 towards recordable books and stuffed animals.

JJ’s Helping Paws, $2,000 for spay/neuter voucher program.

Matt Dangel’s house, $1,700 for entertainment.

Meals on Wheels Cañon City, $2,000 per meal for customers.

Royal Gorge Philharmonic, $1,460 for orchestra equipment.

Royal Gorge RIO, $1,500 for loaner life jacket program.

Senior Services Solutions Plus, $5,000 per doctor/dental appointment.

Bridge Youth Center, $1,200 for high-speed internet.

Food Pantry of Fremont, $5,000 for food pantry.

Uncaged Today, $4,800 in self-defense scholarships.

Also during the meeting, the council:

  • Employees named for employment achievements were: Patrick Martin, five years with the building department; John Dickens, who worked for CCPD for 10 years; and Carl Hall, who has 25 years of experience with the Parks Department and Streets Department.
