The Baltimore Orioles Should Consider These Four Free Agents Making Money at Camden Yards

Making the playoffs is worth mentioning, but the Orioles have yet to make any noise with what they’ve done there over the past two years. The team made it to both playoffs and is back on the couch waiting for another shot in 2025.

So, the Orioles will now turn their attention to the offseason. They will have a lot of questions to answer this winter as their young core quickly approaches the point of deciding whether to offer a contract extension or not. They also have several pending free agents, including your leading home run leader from last season.

The team will have to turn to the free agent market to improve its roster for its next World Series appearance. As they search for the right pieces, what better place to start than with players who have found success where half of their games will be played in 2025?

Of the 76 pending unrestricted free agents this offseason, only a handful have found consistent success at Camden Yards, the Orioles’ home field.

Here are the top players looking for a new team this winter who performed at their best at Oriole Park, regardless of position or team needs.

Highest OPS – Pete Alonso

Although not many games were played in Baltimore during Alonso’s career, he made the most of it while there. Through seven contests at Camden Yards, the Polar Bear posted an outstanding 1.185 OPS. This high output at the plate included seven extra-base hits, including four home runs.

First base isn’t really a necessity for the Orioles this offseason, but given the potential moves of some players this winter, Ryan Mountcastle could be one of them. If so, is it possible to make an offer to such a powerful guy like Alonso?

Best Average – Max Kepler

He played 12 games during his career at Camden Yards. Minnesota Twins outfielder Max Kepler performed well at the plate. He has a .349 batting average in 48 plate appearances. The Orioles may need some help in the outfield next season if players like Anthony Santander sign elsewhere. Kepler would be a great addition as he already seems to be hitting well on the team’s home field.

Most home runs – J.D. Martinez

Being a veteran in this league has its benefits. After 48 games in Baltimore, J.D. Martinez leads all free agents (who did not play for the Orioles) with 18 home runs. These statistics, along with his 30 total extra-base hits, helped him hit .651 slugging in Baltimore Stadium.

After a strong performance by Martinez and the NLCS team in New York MetsThe 37-year-old will return to the market this winter. Would having a veteran off the bench or as a designated hitter suit the Orioles?

Best of the Rest – Juan Soto

It’s great when the biggest free agent on the market also performs well in your home stadium. This applies to the Orioles as well, as Soto played well in Baltimore. In his 20 games at the ballpark, he hit .329/.430/.575 with five home runs and 11 RBIs.

There will likely be a bidding war for Soto’s services in 2025 and beyond, but the thought of him playing at Camden Yards as the home team’s starter would make any Orioles fan excited. The new ownership group hopes “speed up your efforts” to get to the World Series. No one else will move the needle faster this winter than the best striker on the planet.
