Four family members killed in two-vehicle accident

THORNTON, Colo. (KMGH) – Two brothers in Thornton, Colorado are mourning the loss of their family.

Their parents and two younger sisters died in a car accident over the weekend.

The brothers say their family was heading to Walmart to buy groceries when they were struck from behind.

“You couldn’t ask for a better family,” said Adam Diaz.

Their house was usually filled with music.

“She was always singing songs at the top of her lungs on the way to school,” Adam Diaz recalled.

It was also full of kindness.

“My parents always helped. No matter what, you can just call them and they will always come to the rescue,” added Adam Diaz.

Now their house is filled with silence.

“I get a message, a notification on my phone saying that my little sister was in an accident,” recalls Adam Diaz’s brother, Daniel.

Late Saturday night, Thornton police responded to the scene of a car crash.

“That’s when I ran out of money. I went to my car and called my brother,” said Daniel Diaz.

The disaster sparked a fire that claimed the entire world of the Diaz brothers.

“I was able to see my dad in the driver’s seat, and as soon as I saw that he was there and not moving, I realized that my whole family was there,” Adam Diaz said.

Two brothers are speaking out after their entire family was killed in a car crash over the weekend.

Their father Francisco was driving.

“He was very quiet, but with the right people he would be very outgoing and talkative,” Adam Diaz said.

Beatrice, the mother of the family, was also in the car.

“My mother was the complete opposite. No matter where she was, she always made friends, whether it was at the store or with her family,” Adam Diaz said.

The victims also included 15-year-old sister Paoloa and 10-year-old sister Natalie.

“My little sisters always want to go to the movies, do something, hang out,” Adam Diaz said. “I was told that four people died in that car, and I hoped that wasn’t the case.”

The brothers say their life has just begun.

“My father’s goal was to open a granite company,” Daniel Diaz said. “Our goal was to make enough money, move out, have our own home, support our parents.”

Now their future is uncertain.

“We feel lost,” Adam Diaz said. “We don’t even know what the next step will be. It doesn’t even seem real yet because it’s hard to believe.”

The brothers are now afraid to return to their empty house, filled only with memories.

“Everything will work out,” Adam Diaz said. “It’s just going to take time, but it’s going to work out.”

A GoFundMe was created for two brothers; it raised more than $110,000.

“However, it won’t be the same when you come out of work and see an empty house and your parents are next to you, waiting to eat every day,” Danial Diaz said.
