Kate Hudson recreated her ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ moment at the World Series

Entertainment gossip and news from the Newsweek network of writers.

Kate Hudson couldn’t resist the opportunity to return to her film How to lose a guy in 10 days.

While filming during Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday, October 30, Hudson, 45, asked a friend if she could go get her a soda. Her friend brushed it off, but just like in the movie, Hudson asked again, “No, can you get me a soda?” Her friend, wearing a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform and clearly focused on the game, asked, “Right now?”

Hudson, smiling broadly, replied: “Yes, just like now.” However, her friend was not Benny (Matthew McConaughey), and he stood firm, saying a final “No” before the camera panned to the baseball field. “Game 5 based on loading…” the Oscar-nominated actress captioned the image, highlighting just how awkward the timing was for her.

This, of course, was a return to the scene from How to lose a guy in 10 daysin which Hudson’s character Andy asks Ben to get her a soda in the final minutes of a New York Knicks game. He rushes to get said “soda without ice” but is sent back to the diner a second time when she complains that he brought her regular Coke instead of Diet Coke. The constant back and forth inevitably results in Ben missing the winning shot.

It was only a 10 second video, but it has already received over a million likes on TikTok. Fans flooded the comments to praise Hudson for returning to this memorable scene, which was part of her character Andy’s larger plan to see if she could annoy her date enough to dump her within 10 days. “People realize how BIG THIS IS,” one person commented, while another quipped, “THE WHO GET IT.”

Others came to comment on one-liners from the movie scene, such as: “This is not a diet, I’m so thirsty .” Many praised the rom-com, with one commentator calling it “one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen.”

One woman even joked about her takeaway from the film, writing, “This movie taught me to never be in a man’s world. .”

Directed by Donald Petrie, the romantic comedy, which has grossed more than $177 million, follows Andie as she writes “How To” articles for a women’s magazine. A friend inspires her to write an article about needy and emotional behavior that can lead to a guy dumping you after 10 days.

It just so happens that the man she decides to test this theory on is an advertising executive named Ben, who is trying to organize a major diamond campaign by proving that he can make any woman fall in love with him in 10 days.

Luckily for Hudson’s friend, there was no magazine article or bet, so she was able to stand her ground and be present for the Dodgers’ 7-6 victory over the New York Yankees.
