2024 Election: Nearly 2.2 Million Michigan Voters Have Cast their Ballots So Far

Now Trump and Republican leaders have encouraged voters to take advantage of early and absentee voting, and Republicans appear to be becoming more comfortable with it.

Review revenues are reported at the municipal level According to state data, 115 communities received more absentee ballots than they received in the same period before the 2020 election.

Almost all of them are in heavily Republican parts of the state.

In Leoni Township in Jackson County, for example, 2,170 voters have returned absentee ballots so far, up from 1,747 in 2020. The town east of Jackson gave Trump a 62%-36% victory in 2020.

These totals do not show how many people voted early in person. In the August primary, Republicans were slightly more likely to vote early in person than Democrats.

However, all votes are counted equally, regardless of whether they are cast early in person, absentee, or on Election Day. Campaigns are encouraging early voting to focus political resources on those who have not yet voted.
