WILSON, N.C. (WITN) – One East Carolina woman is $1 million richer after winning the lottery’s top prize.

The North Carolina Education Lottery says Janet Johnson purchased her Extreme Cash lucky ticket at the 7-Eleven on West Airport Boulevard in Wilson.

When the Wilson County woman walked into lottery headquarters Tuesday, Johnson could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum payment of $600,000.

Johnson opted for a lump sum payment and received $429,007 after mandatory state and federal taxes were withheld.
