Chennai Super Kings retain Mathisha Pathirana for INR 13 Crores – Latest News

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have retained Sri Lankan player Mathisha Pathirana for a staggering sum of INR 13 crore, equivalent to approximately US$1.56 million ahead of the IPL player auction.

Meanwhile, Heinrich Klaasen has made history as the most expensive player ever retained by an IPL team ahead of an auction.

Chennai Super Kings have retained five players, including captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and club icon MS Dhoni, for the IPL auction later this year.

Mathisha Pathirana, Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube are the other players retained by the Chennai franchise.

The auction will take place in November or December, with the BCCI exploring the possibility of holding it overseas, with Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) emerging as the favourite. Muscat and Doha are also being considered.

Five-time champion Chennai Super Kings failed to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs.
