Supermicrocomputer: Lots of Questions Investors Shouldn’t Even Ask

After working for over 43 years at one investment research firm or another, I finally retired. So now I’m completely independent. And for the first time, I won’t work on Seeking Alpha based on someone else’s product plans. I have only one goal right now…to provide you with the most actionable investment information possible. I have long specialized in rules-based and factor-based stock investing strategies. But I’m different from other people with the same background. I don’t serve numbers. Instead, the numbers serve as my… inspiration for investment stories created by HI (Human Intelligence). I definitely understand quantum investing, including factors and more (formerly called AI). But I don’t agree with what other quants are doing. Instead of being obsessed with statistical research, which is useless for any time period other than the time period being studied, I combine factor work with basic theories of finance, including classical fundamental analysis, to get the true story of a company and its stock. Investing is the future. So numbers (which necessarily live in the past) can only take us so far. They are at their best when they tell us stories that shed light on what might happen in the future. Here’s how I use them. I’ve had quite a colorful career. In addition to a full range of experience covering stocks from many different groups (large cap, small cap, micro cap, value, growth, income, special situations… you name it, I’ve covered it), I have developed and worked with many different quantitative metrics. models. I also previously managed a high-yield fixed income fund (junk bonds) and conducted research involving quantitative asset allocation strategies, which is the basis of what has become known as Robo Advising. I used to edit and write several stock newsletters, most notably the Forbes report on low stock prices. I previously worked as the Assistant Director of Research at Value Line. I have also long had a passion for educating investors, which has resulted in me teaching numerous seminars on stock selection and analysis, as well as writing two books: Screening The Market and The Value Connection. I’m looking forward to my new incarnation at Seeking Alpha. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer. But if you don’t, feel free to tell me why in the comments. I’m a big boy. I can handle criticism. (But please don’t call me “stupid”. That’s my wife’s job!)
