Laura Muir will receive a bronze medal at the 2015 European Indoor 3000m Championships

Britain’s Laura Muir will be presented with her retrospective bronze medal from the 2015 European Indoor Championships this weekend.

The Scot was 21 when she finished fourth in the 3000m in Prague but was upgraded to bronze in January after Russian winner Elena Korobkina was found guilty of a doping violation.

Muir, 31, will now receive her medal at the Lindsay short course cross-country competition in Kirkcaldy on Saturday.

“I cannot emphasize or explain how much it means to the athletes to correct the results and present medals to those who compete under the rules of our sport,” Muir said.

“I am therefore delighted to see this particular European Indoors 2015 medal at Kirkcaldy and it will take pride of place among my other sporting achievements.”

Svetlana Kudzelic of Belarus’s silver medal was upgraded to gold, while Maureen Coster of the Netherlands took silver.

Korobkina was banned for four years from September 2023 and her results between July 2013 and July 2016 were expunged after she was found guilty of doping last year.
