Stalker 2 PC specifications require tons of disk space, but surprisingly modest hardware

Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl looks impressive, and as such, it will need a lot of hard drive space to fit across the entire 64 km² of the Exclusion Zone. The official PC specs for the game have already been released, and while it’s not too demanding in terms of RAM, GPU, and CPU requirements, you’ll need to make sure you have 150GB of free SSD space.

Like several other modern games, Stalker 2 lists an SSD as a requirement, likely due to the fact that it has significantly faster read/write speeds than traditional hard drives. Developer GSC Game World previously talked about his attempt to create photorealistic version of the Chernobyl exclusion zoneand early previews of Stalker 2 showed off rich environments for players to explore.

In addition, other PC requirements listed on Steam are very lenient towards older machines, perhaps due to the fact that Stalker 2 was in development for a long period of time. GSC Game World recommends an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU with at least 8GB of VRAM and 16GB of RAM, although it’s worth noting that the system requirements don’t specify what kind of graphics output players can expect. If you’re aiming for 4K resolution and high frame rates, you’ll likely need newer hardware to get the most out of Stalker 2.

After several delays due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Stalker 2 will release on PC and Xbox Series X|S on November 20, and will also be available through Xbox Game Pass.
