If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what everyday items famous people add to their carts, e.g. hairspray or electric toothbrush. We asked designer Harris Reid about the ketchup-flavored chips, mohair blanket and comfy boxer shorts he can’t live without.

One day I carried concealer, contour stick, and foundation with me. But for the sake of saving time – newlyweds, home renovations, traveling between Paris and London – I thought: What do I prefer? It’s all about fit in my bag, fit in my pocket, fit in TSA Toiletry Rules. I needed something in 45 seconds that would make me wake up. This is my one-stop shop. I put this under my eyes, around my chin, on my cheekbones and forehead. (I’m no makeup expert, but these are my places.) I don’t use a beauty blender. I literally enter with three fingers. The second you apply it, especially over my Barbara Sturm Glow Cream, you look set. It doesn’t look like a cake. You’re not too covered. You have enough lighting, so I use it for the red carpet. But you also don’t go to the grocery store or go get coffee looking like you’re wearing full makeup. This is such a nice natural beauty.

I don’t use serums or eye creams more. It’s the only thing I really use other than makeup. You apply a good thumb-sized dollop to your freshly washed face. I think it gives a really dewy effect even if I don’t apply anything afterwards or use it as a base. It does not crack, does not dry out the skin or make it too oily. No smell at all? Is this a word? Odorless. It has no smell. I have sensitive skin, so anything that has fragrance or is very oily makes me burn out very easily. It keeps my skin hydrated. This is a key thing for a person who travels a lot, sits in cars, planes, trains. (Literally like Lady Gaga, another club, another club, another club.) My husband borrows it all the time. I go through the jar too often.

It’s so funny because I’ve never done my hair well. I always put them in a bun or braided them very messily. I remember one time on set someone had a Dyson Airwrap and I used it and it changed my life. The fact that you can perfectly dry and round an entire strand of hair in seconds is insane to me. It’s very easy to use. I think my daily routine has come down to three minutes. You can apply any cream. I divide my hair into four sections. I’ll blow it up. I pin my bangs back on my head and then spray on a little hairspray. You get a fabulously perfect release.

Josh Wood is the one who dyed my hair ginger probably five years ago and I haven’t gone back since. If you’ve ever dyed your hair orange, you know it can be incredibly difficult to maintain. His shine is so fast. You shower them with gloves on, leave them on for five minutes, and then you have the freshest color. This obviously adds volume and also makes your hair look shiny. It does everything you want to do when you go to a salon. But you can do it in your bathroom yourself and for much less money. I use it after I’m done shampoo and before you do air conditioner. I usually do this the same day I do my hair mask so my hair feels more hydrated and ready to use. I probably use it at least once a month. I’m trying not to freak out because the white bathroom is getting everywhere. I mean, it comes off, but it’s essentially red dye. Every time I travel, I take my pipe with me. It just gives such a gorgeous color.

(Editor’s note: The brand lists prices in pounds, so these are approximate dollar values.)

I’ve always been a big fan of Jacques Marie Maget. I don’t know where it started. I think he’s from Los Angeles and came to London. I remember they were always around parties on people’s faces. And when I found my first good pair of sunglasses, I chose Jacques Marie Mage and Jagger. I love the name and I live for the pilot. They are very personal. I love that you will never have the same glasses. I don’t know how many they make – some will have 50, others 250. It’s demi-couture, which feels a little more eco-friendly and almost custom. If you spend so much on sunglasses, it’s nice to know that you’ll never meet anyone wearing the same pair. This is my obsession, sunglasses. This is probably what I have the most.

They are definitely expensive and I don’t have many of them because they are so expensive. But I can say one thing: they are worth the money. I think with women’s underwearyou have so many different types and men’s underwear There’s never enough play. This underwear is very soft and comfortable. I even wore it to the Met Gala because it was the only thing that really didn’t create bad lingerie lines. I’m a bit of a hippie. I grew up in Los Angeles, not far from Topanga. And when I go home, I’m practically naked and watering the plants. These underwear make you feel like you are not wearing any underwear. But you are still supported. They seem to have been inspired by old school lingerie commercials. In men’s underwear, I think it’s either Calvin Klein (nothing wrong with that!), very classic, or something very sexy. I think it’s good to have an in-between option. When I was a kid you had Spider-Man and SpongeBob underwear, and when maybe I was still a teenager, I remember it was American Apparel. And what I love about Zimmerli’s is that while it’s on-brand, it’s very low-key and very nonchalant.

It takes years to find shoes that go with everything. My feet are larger than men’s (I’m 44) and I can never fit into women’s shoes. So finding elegant “men’s” shoes is quite difficult. Rainer boots give you a sexy, 70s Studio 54 French feel. They feel very much in that era and in the same vein. They really remind me of what I would see someone like Yves Saint Laurent wearing smoking in the street. They have amazing versatility. I wore them to Vogue World and then to McDonald’s. I think the key to fashion is things you can wear anywhere. If you need to go to the ballet, a formal event or to the pub, you can shop around and the boots will do the trick.

I almost didn’t include this on the list, not because it’s a hidden secret, but because it’s TMI. When I started working at Nina Ricci a year and a half ago, I was traveling a lot more than usual and was literally constipated all the time. My understanding is that this is a very high mineral level. All I know is that it really helps my entire system run smoothly. Anyone I meet who says, “I’m so bloated,” I tell them to drink water, and it always helps. It’s such a strange thing to actually talk to you guys. But I thought, you know what, if it can help someone else, then why not? I just feel like it helps your system run a lot better. I have always been very homeopathic in everything. I’m not a big fan of pills. I really need to sponsor this water because I pumped it up so much it literally sounds just like me. I drink the bottle as I speak.

About six months ago I started taking care of myself a little better. I’ve always been work, work, work first. I’m late to this whole thing about drinking enough water. I found this water bottle and that’s great because all you have to do is drink that much water a day and you’ll be fine. It makes me look like I know more about what I’m doing when I go to the gym with him, even though I don’t. I love that it’s huge and huge and I can attach it to my gym bag. I have it in black and white. Black is probably my color of choice for Fashion Week and white for everyday wear. There are many categories that have so many things that are not visually pleasing. So it’s hard for someone who’s so into visuals to say, “Well, what’s my water bottle if I’m not actually drinking from an Aqua Carpatica bottle?” It looks great.

Ketchup flavored Monster Munch is the best chip available today. I was a huge Flaming Hot Cheetos girl and then a Cheeto Puffs girl. I literally live for anything that has an airy, crunchy texture. You can actually eat one. I actually discovered Monster Munch during my first Paris Fashion Week when we were trying to find Cheetos and couldn’t find them. The chips look like inflated ghosts. The taste of ketchup is the most addictive. I’m not one to ever have a rider – and now I always say, “Can I just get a Monster Munch if I ever…” It’s a guilty pleasure. It’s not something I eat all the time. I would say they have a sweet tanginess with just a hint of ketchup. This sounds disgusting. I feel like it’s one of those things that once you try it you think, “Oh my God, I can’t live without this.”

My grandfather loved his whiskey. And when he died, he left me a glass of whiskey. I’ve always had a tradition of drinking a glass of whiskey on the weekends. I got to explore different whiskeys for almost ten years in London. I wavered between drinking a lot of alcohol. There is something so regal and elegant about the Royal Salute. I respect that the minimum mixing age they use is 21. Most whiskey companies don’t do this. You have a five-year plan, a ten-year plan. The classic blend has these wonderful notes. It’s not too peaty. It doesn’t have that smoky taste. It was a great gift for defeating my now husband’s family. This is my favorite drink and bottles of Royal Salute have sold out. As a packaging queen, I love that they always release limited edition bottles and incredible boxes.

There have been so many celebrities in history who have owned these watches. I love the story behind it. My guess is that the guy who created the Cartier Tank during World War I looked out and saw tanks on the streets of Paris and designed the watch to look like a tank. I’m really into stories and stories. I’ve had my Cartier Tank for six years now, seven years now. It looks very elegant with everything. This was one of the first things I bought for myself after I got my first couple clients in my business. It’s something you can look at as a reminder of what you’ve built. This is what I will pass on to my daughter, my son, my child. It’s timeless. I think a lot of watches right now are very much part of the trend, and I think they have enough time and space to continue to evolve, to continue to exist, and to maintain a sense of relevance.
