The Pittsburgh Steelers will likely lose another WR name.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are now unlikely to land. Another name they’re looking for in the wide receiver market.

One possible addition to the Steelers was the New York Jets. Mike Williamswhose role was supposed to decrease after adding Davante Adams to New York Jets.

Now, especially after the Jets’ win over the Houston Texans on Thursday night, Williams trade talks appear to have all but died down. Several people, including ESPN’s Rich Cimini and Jeremy Fowler reiterated that the plan appears to be for the Jets to retain Williams’ services.

“The Jets are more likely to keep Mike Williams rather than trade him,” Cimini wrote.

On Sportscenter, Fowler talked about the possibility before Thursday Night Football was set to begin.

“The Jets were open to trading Mike Williams,” Fowler said. “Williams himself is open to an exchange, and there is interest. However, I am told that in this particular game he was on good terms with the coaching staff. They had a good talk with him. They’re trying to squash all the trade rumors about this game and how he could be the center of what they do tonight. If they win and he’s a big part of it, maybe they’ll keep him.”

Williams’ game was largely uneventful, with one catch for six yards and no touchdowns. The Jets will likely still need his services due to Allen Lazard’s injury, so the likelihood of the Steelers acquiring him is pretty low at this point.

With the deadline just around the corner and options limited, the Steelers will be looking to add value at the position and will look at every option before time runs out.
