Criminal caught with drugs and guns during Halloween stop in Redding

A fugitive wanted for drug smuggling out of Tehama County was caught during a traffic stop in Redding on Halloween night.

According to the Redding Police Department (RPD), on October 31, at an unspecified time, officers from a local police unit observed a man, later identified as Joshua White, 49, driving near Parkview Avenue and Akard Avenue. Officers conducted a traffic stop and found a loaded handgun, ammunition and nearly one ounce of methamphetamine in White’s vehicle.

RPD said White has a criminal history, including previous felony convictions. They said White is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

White was ultimately arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on multiple charges, including possession and transportation of methamphetamine for sale, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, and possession of a loaded and concealed firearm in a vehicle. .
