Aholu’s miraculous strike brought Angers victory over prestigious Monaco with a score of 1:0

MONACO – Jean-Ed Aholu’s spectacular first-half strike gave Angers a 1-0 win over Monaco in Ligue 1 on Friday and cemented the north-western club’s recent rejuvenation.

After an 11-game winless streak dating back to July, Angers have won two games in a row for the first time since May.

Friday’s win lifted the team to 14th place in the 18-team league.

The history of Monaco is almost a mirror image of the rise of Angers. The principality club lost two matches in a row after going on a 12-match unbeaten run from early August to late October.

They were missing a host of first-team players in a game that was canceled out by Aholu’s wonder strike in the 29th minute.

The Ivory Coast striker took a short pass from Jim Allevin and fired a left-footed shot that left goalkeeper Radoslaw Majecki with no chance.
