Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex mattress launches in 2024

Brooklyn Bedding, one of our most recommended bed-in-a-box brands, recently released several affordable models that maintain the company’s signature quality. New CopperFlex Collection consists of four mattresses: 12-inch CopperFlexwhich is offered in a hybrid or all-foam model, as well as a 14-in. CopperFlex Proalso available in both builds. The Forbes Vetted team of sleep experts recently tested these mattresses at Brooklyn Bedding in Arizona and were impressed by the high quality and low price. The CopperFlex (the base model in the line) currently costs under $500 for a queen bed and offers six layers of foam, temperature control, and targeted lumbar support.

Before the launch of the CopperFlex line, the brand’s most affordable model was DreamFoam Essentialwhich consists of two to three layers of foam, depending on the size you choose. Unlike DreamFoam and many others in the same price range with simpler designs, these new models offer six or more layers, zoned support (dense levels of foam in the middle of the mattress to improve spinal alignment and relieve pressure), and various cooling features. , including copper-filled foam to conduct heat away from the body. “Collectively, these innovations make the CopperFlex collection a revolutionary addition to the market, offering unparalleled comfort and support—all at an affordable price,” says Brooklyn Bedding Brands CEO Scott Paladini.

The materials of these beds are suitable for many sleeping arrangements and are comparable to others that are much more expensive; However, if you’re looking for something truly top-notch, Brooklyn Bedding offers more luxurious mattresses like Sedona Elite. Below, learn more about each new mattress model, who we think it’s best for, and what sets it apart from the rest of Brooklyn Bedding’s mattress portfolio (which consists of more than a dozen beds).

Meet the new CopperFlex mattresses

The most affordable choice in Brooklyn Bedding’s new collection, the 12-inch CopperFlex memory foam mattress features six layers of foam, from copper-infused memory foam that helps prevent night sweats to high-density support foam for durability. We found that it gives a dense, durable foam feel with little shrinkage, making it a good choice for back and gastric sleepers in particular. It tested average for edge support and responsiveness, which is typical for foam beds.

The CopperFlex hybrid model is two inches taller and includes six inches of individually wrapped coils instead of the high-density foam support found in the memory foam model. We found that it created a slow-sinking foam feel that was not as dense as the all-foam option. Brooklyn Bedding rates this bed as medium firm, and we agreed with that rating based on our testing; this means it is a good option for the stomach and sleepers on the backand side sleepers with heavier frames (over 250 pounds). Despite having coils inside, it passed the motion isolation tests very well.

If you’re a fan of the true feel of memory foam (think of a mattress molding around your body like quicksand), then you might want to consider the CopperFlex Pro Memory Foam Mattress. We found it to be firmer than average, but the longer you sleep on it, the softer it will be. Due to the memory foam, this bed is not the best option for combined sleepers those who need to easily change position or those who have problems with movement. We find it most comfortable for back sleepers, heavy side sleepers, and light stomach sleepers.

The most luxurious model in this budget line, the 14-inch CopperFlex Pro Hybrid has the airiest and most responsive feel of the bunch. We found it to be the softest in the new collection, with a medium to medium firmness. This makes it a great choice for side, back and combination sleepers, as well as stomach sleepers. It’s the only model to feature the company’s GlacioTex cooling cover, which has a smooth, cool-to-the-touch surface designed to regulate body temperature. The overall quality of this bed is comparable to some mattresses we’ve tested that cost nearly twice as much. And the only downside we found was that this bed lacks edge support.

Final Thoughts

While we were impressed with these mattresses during our testing, some questions remained, namely: How can the brand offer such lower prices? And why not every does the manufacturer do the same if possible? We asked Brooklyn Bedding’s Paladini for answers, and he explained that a lot of it depends on ownership.

“Owning and operating our own facility allows us to produce our own materials, which gives us greater control over every step of the manufacturing process,” he says. “This approach not only ensures that we meet our high quality standards, but also eliminates the need for third-party suppliers, significantly reducing costs.” So, in essence, there are no middlemen, and any savings from eliminating this layer are passed on to the client. In contrast, many competing brands, such as Nectar, DreamCloud and Casper, primarily source their materials from other countries and have different business models as a result.

As for the beds themselves, and how do they stack up against others we’ve tested? All four CopperFlex models are of higher quality than many others. affordable mattresses we tried, including from Brooklyn Bedding. However, there are some limitations to what you can get for this price: CopperFlex mattresses are not made from the same premium materials found in the brand’s more expensive models, such as natural latex or microcoils. In addition to a more luxurious feel, these materials can add additional responsiveness, durability, cooling, and personalized support. None of the CopperFlex models meet our expectations. soft mattressesor if you prefer.

In our opinion, the disadvantages are quite few compared to the benefits of these mattresses – and, of course, their excellent value for money. So, in our opinion, if any of Brooklyn Bedding’s CopperFlex models fit your sleep style, sleep preferences, and overall budget, they’re definitely worth a look.
