Dolly Parton Reveals Why She Was “Flattered” by the Sheep Clone’s Namesake

Dolly Parton has revealed why she was “honored” to learn a ground-breaking sheep clone had been named after her almost 30 years ago.

RadarOnline.com can reveal that the country music legend felt honored: The sheep clone was named “Dolly” in honor of her infamous cleavage when she discovered that scientists had used mammary tissue to create a farm animal.

Dolly the sheep was the first mammal to be successfully cloned from an adult somatic cell by researchers at Scotland’s Roslin Institute in 1996.

During a recent interview with GuardianParton, 78, was asked what she thought of the scientific feat named after her breasts and whether she wanted to be cloned.

She said: “I was flattered.

“You know, when scientists cloned Dolly the sheep, they used mammary glands. That’s what they call them… glands… boobs.”

She continued: “They said, ‘Oh, we have this sheep, Dolly…’ Everyone always played along with it (points to her chest), that’s why we had Dolly the sheep.”

Her namesake, born on July 5, 1996, gave birth to six children and died on February 14, 2003.

Parton added: “I was sorry when she died, although I don’t want to be cloned.

“I want to get out of here when I can.”

Jolene singer continued to joke that there are already enough people impersonating her, adding: “We already have a lot of Dolly look-alikes, a lot of Dolly drag queens.

“I can just send them to the store instead of me.”

While Parton has no shortage of performers paying tribute to her iconic career, she admitted that “I can’t retire“Bye.

She shared, “I always say I painted myself into a corner. I have to keep all these dreams alive.

“Every dream turns into something something else

Parton also took the opportunity to debunk “misinformation” that she is no longer touring, and explained: “I still do concerts—I just don’t do full-fledged tours where I go overseas for weeks at a time.

“I’m older my husband is olderand I want to be with him more.

“So no. I couldn’t retire even if I wanted to. And I don’t want to.”
