Hunter rescued from ravine

The wet weather left the hunter trapped in a ravine and required the help of Chase RCMP and two search and rescue teams to get out.

Chase RCMP responded to a 911 call about a hunter trapped in a ravine on Oct. 15 at 11:30 a.m.

“The hunter reported that his hunting partner had gone down into the ravine and was trapped,” explained Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg of the Chase RCMP. “The hunter was not injured, but he was unable to get out.”

Police called in search and rescue for additional assistance, and teams from Kamloops Search and Rescue as well as Shuswap Search and Rescue worked together to help the trapped hunter.

Slippery soil and very wet weather made the operation difficult, but with the help of a series of ropes and anchor points they were eventually able to pull the hunter out of the ravine.
