Man pleads guilty to assault of former FOX10 News chief meteorologist

MOBILE, Alas. (VALA) – A Mobile man has pleaded guilty to assaulting former FOX10 News Chief Meteorologist John Edd Thompson.

Neilson Kane has come forward with allegations of elder abuse and neglect. He admitted to the attack, which was captured on surveillance video at the Murphy USA gas station on University Boulevard on July 25, 2023.

Thompson and his wife stopped for gas after lunch to celebrate his 81st birthday.

The video shows Cain pushing Thompson to the ground and punching him.

Thompson said the man wanted $2.

Cain’s sentencing is scheduled for December. He faces from two to 20 years in prison.
