What happened when Cardi B took the stage

Cardi B took the stage to loud applause from the crowd, but paused for a few seconds, looking at the teleprompter. She then started to take off her gloves and said, “One second, guys. One second!” Pausing again for a few awkward seconds on stage, she managed to say, “Okay. So I’m not taking this call lightly.” Cardi B tried to speak again, continuing, “Sorry guys, I’m a little nervous. .I’m a little nervous guys, I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life, my whole life.”

She then began to look around, apparently signaling her team for help. She continued to respond to the audience: “I need patience, patience, where are you girl? I need patience here!” She repeatedly shouted, “Are we ready to make history?” Finally, a woman from her team handed her a phone, on which she began to make a speech.

What Cardi B said

Cardi B then said she doesn’t plan to vote this year before Harris joins the presidential race. Before President Joe Biden stepped down as a presidential candidate, Cardi announced she would not vote in the upcoming election and criticized the current administration for sending aid to what she called “funding two wars.”

She said: “I didn’t believe any candidate until she joined the race and said what I wanted to hear—what I want to see happen next in this country. I believe every word that comes out of her mouth; she is passionate, compassionate, empathetic, and most importantly, no-nonsense.”
