Old audio of Donald Trump’s joke about “obligation” to sleep with Miss Universe resurfaces ahead of election

Old audio clip from 2010 of former US President. Donald Trump and radio host Howard Stern recently resurfaced, just days before this year’s presidential election. Trump has already faced significant backlash for calling Rep. Liz Cheney a “radical war hawk,” “very dumb,” a “stupid person” and an “idiot.”

In an interview, Trump, who then owned the Miss Universe pageant, talked about checking contestants’ locker rooms before the event. He noted that, as the owner of the pageant, he was able to enter these private areas to make sure “everything was okay” while the women were undressing, describing how he “sort of gets away with that kind of stuff.”

Stern questions Trump about contestants: “Conflict of interest?”

Stern then asked Trump if he was close to any of the candidates. “You’re not the type to say no,” Stern said. “You see a beautiful woman, you want to have her. You’re a guy who likes to have everything, right?” Radio co-host Robin Quivers chimed in, suggesting it could be “misconstrued” as inappropriate.

“Conflict? I don’t see it as a conflict,” Stern responded. Trump then admitted: “It may be a conflict of interest. But you know, that’s what you worry about later. You tend to think about the conflict a little later.”

The tone became even more alarming when Stern continued with racially insensitive remarks, calling them “foreign” contestants and making inappropriate suggestions that they were offering favors to win the competition crown. Trump responded: “You could also say that as the owner of the competition, you have an obligation to do this.”

Stern, continuing to press Trump, asked, “So, you did it?” Trump was hesitant at first before revealing his behind-the-scenes access: “Well. I’ll tell you, the funny thing is I go backstage before the show and everyone is getting dressed and getting ready and everything. And there are no men anywhere. And they let me in because I’m the owner of the theatrical performance and therefore I’m inspecting it… – Is everything okay? and they stand there without clothes. – Everything is fine? and you see these incredible looking women. And that’s why I get away with things like this.”
