Bubba Watson’s performance at the Indonesian Masters speaks volumes

LIV golf star Bubba Watson hit a stunning shot in the third round of the Masters in Indonesia and then made the most incredible gesture for charity.

Watson, 45, made his putt on the 11th hole and then Phakara Hongwatmai hit the same trick in the group 10 minutes later.

As a result of its success, two houses were donated to Indonesian families in need through the charity Habitat Humanity Indonesia.

But after the round, Watson confirmed he was willing to donate his third home to the charity.

The Indonesian Masters is an international series competition on the Asian Tour.

The hit was the sixth of Watson’s career.

Watson used a pitching wedge on the 154-yard hole.

“The game of golf has done a lot for the world,” said two-time Masters champion Watson.

“For all the charity that golf has brought, it is very special to be a part of it.

“It’s a great honor and I heard there was another hole right behind me so someone needs to clean it up so a couple of families can get help.

“So it’s amazing that golf can do this for someone and help people.”

The shot also helped Watson post a perfect round of 7-under 65, finishing third on the leaderboard.

However, Watson was seven shots off the pace heading into the final round as Canadian RT Lee took the lead at 21 under par.

The RangeGoats GC captain has pulled out of LIV Golf in 2024 but is hopeful he will be invited back in 2025.

Hongwatmai said: “I am very lucky that I made a hole in one, and it is double happiness because my luck goes to the family.”

Surprisingly, this is not the first time that two players have holed out on the same hole in the same round of the Asian Tour – it has happened three times previously.

In the second round of the 2015 Maybank Malaysian Open, Frenchman Gregory Burdi and Australian Jake Higginbottom, six groups ahead, both finished on the par-three 15th at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.

In the third round of the 2018 Fiji International at Natadola Bay Golf Course, Thitiphun Chuaiprakong of Thailand and Kieran Muir of New Zealand finished second in the par-three. Titiphun was two groups ahead. And in the second round of the 2019 New Zealand Open in Millbrook, Phum Saxansin from Thailand and Damien Jordan from Australia finished second.
