Two women injured after falling from Shepherd of the Hills slide

TANEY COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – Two women were taken to a Springfield hospital Friday evening after an incident during a trip to Shepherd of the Hills near Branson.

According to Jim Ferguson with the West Taney County Fire Protection District, firefighters were called to Shepherd of the Hills for a mountain vessel incident around 6 p.m.

Ferguson says both women suffered moderate injuries after falling from the slide cart.

The incident is currently being investigated by the State Fire Service. The women were in their 50s and fell from the cart on a curve about 6 feet above the ground, according to the fire department. Investigators arrived at the scene around 7 p.m.

Investigators returned Saturday afternoon to check more. Officials say travel will not be permitted until the investigation is completed.

According to Shepherd of the Hills websiteCopperhead Mountain Coaster is a 4,800-foot coaster that offers a two-person cart ride down the mountain. The website states that it meets the highest safety and technical standards and was created by Wiegand.
