Wet weather will bring first warnings in the first half of the week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Early warnings will remain in effect until Monday as we will have intermittent heavy rain and rumbles. KC was mostly dry on Saturday, with heavy rain falling west/northwest of the metro. Short showers are possible in the evening and at night. At the moment, I think the wettest period on Sunday will be in the morning. Our computer models give a good chance of several hours of heavy rain for most of the KCTV viewing area. The afternoon will be mostly cloudy but should dry out for a while. Another wave is possible late Sunday. As we mentioned, there won’t be a complete washout this weekend, but there will be some wet spells. Then moving into Monday, we’re especially looking for steady rain from the afternoon into the early evening. We’re hoping the heaviest rain may fall before the Chiefs kickoff, but for now, have your rain gear ready, especially for tailgating. The rain will finally stop on Tuesday and most of the day will be dry. When all is said and done, we could get 1 to 3 extra inches of rain. There are some localized locations, particularly southeast of Connecticut Chancery, where overall rates may be higher. We are more than 6 inches short of normal rainfall this year, so we need every drop we can get. We expect highs on Sunday and Monday to be in the low to mid 60s, with a cold front pushing us back into the 50s on Tuesday. Signs are starting to point to more rain Thursday through Saturday next week, but there is no good model agreement at this time.

Headings:

-First warning for Sunday and Monday, with PORTIONS of each day experiencing heavy rain.

– Sunday looks wetter, especially earlier. Everything will be fine this evening, and then maybe another evening round.

-Monday looks wetter a little later in the day. The Chiefs look damp at the moment. A few stronger storms are possible in the Southeast Monday evening.

“Barring some lingering rain early Tuesday morning, we’ll be dry.”

ALSO – don’t forget that Daylight Saving Time ends at 2am on Sunday. 2am will turn back to 1am. An extra hour of sleep, but now the sun will rise/set an hour earlier.
