TCU Football at Baylor: Halftime Report

This is the Bluebonnet Battle in Waco featuring TCU Horned Frogs (5-3, 3-2) playing Baylor Bears (4-4, 2-3) meeting for the 120th time.

First Half Highlights – TCU at Baylor:

TCU won the toss and elected to take the first kick. And the Frogs did nothing about it, starting the game with a three-and-out. Baylor’s opening drive was stopped due to a sack. Johnny Hodges.

Baylor’s punt pinned the Frogs at their own 5-yard line. TCU needed just seven plays to drive 95 yards for a touchdown thanks to two Josh Hoover passes – 28 yard pass Savion Williams and a 40 yard pass. DJ Rogers two plays later. Jordyn Bailey put the Frogs on the board with a one-handed catch from Hoover from 8 yards out. Score: TCU 7 – Baylor 0, 6:42 1st quarter

With this score, TCU extended its winning streak dating back to 1991:

Baylor wasn’t far behind. They converted the kickoff and drove down the field. Bryson Washington running from 8 yards out to put Baylor on the board. Score: TCU 7 – Baylor 7, 1:48 1st quarter

The Frogs stopped near midfield on their next possession, forcing a 34-yard punt. Ethan Crowe. Baylor would only run six plays on its next possession. The Frogs would take over at their own 19-yard line with 11:46 left in the half. On third and long on the Frog possession, Williams was wide open and would have had a clear path into the end zone, but was unable to hold onto Hoover’s long bomb. TCU will strike again.

Baylor went 64 yards on only four plays, capped by Washington’s 40-yard rush up the middle. Isaiah Hankins will miss the PAT. Score: TCU 7 – Baylor 13; 8:41 2nd quarter

TCU made some decent plays on its next drive, but had to settle for a Kyle Lemmerman field goal. His first attempt, a 41-yarder, was good but was negated by a delayed penalty. He made his next attempt from 46 yards out. Score TCU 10 – Baylor 13; 5:18 2nd quarter

On the next possession, Baylor went three and out. TCU will start the next trip in its No. 32 seed. Nine games later Jeremy PayneHe made his way into the end zone for 17 yards. However, the touchdown was reconsidered. It was determined that he was close to the goal line. Two plays later, Hoover got the goal on goal. Score – TCU 17 – Baylor 13; 0:50 2nd quarter

Baylor drove down the field in the final minute, aided by a Frogs pass interference call. Baylor failed to get out of bounds on its final catch and time expired.
