Texas Tech football fans react after Red Raiders upset Iowa State to qualify for bowl

Victory bells rang in Lubbock Saturday night as Texas Tech football team defeated 10th-ranked Iowa State 23–22 on the road obtaining the right to participate in the cup. Red Raider fans shared their excitement on social media.

For context, this is the team’s first win over a team ranked in the top 10 in the Coaches Poll since 2011, and the first time since 2000 to 2010 that it has qualified for the cup four years in a row.

Fans on social media were delighted, to say the least.

The official Texas Tech Football social media account even got in on the action by sharing their thoughts on ESPN’s College GameDay prediction of who will win.

Even three-time Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II had to share the pride for his alma mater.

Fans were especially excited to see Red Raiders become bowl eligible.

The Red Raiders face their next Hub City test on Nov. 9 against Colorado at Jones AT&T Stadium.
