Furious Strictly Come Dancing fans said one star was “breaking the rules” and accused the judges of giving her “special treatment” on the first show on Saturday night.

Opera singer Wynne Evans, 52, is paired with professional dancer Katya Jones in the current series and this week they performed the week’s Rumba for Icons to Shirley Bassey’s This Is My Life.

He scored an impressive 30 points for this exercise from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke.

But some viewers took to Twitter to accuse him of breaking show rules after the singer sang the last line of the song to end the performance and showed off his incredible voice.

They said it was unfair that he was able to showcase the talents of his day job when other contestants on the show couldn’t do the same, and suggested he focus more on dancing.

At the end of the dance, presenter Tess Daly said: “You blew the hair off my arm.” It was something. We know Wynn can sing, but what do you think of that rumba?

Anton was full of praise, saying it was “the best ending to any act I’ve ever seen in my entire life”, adding: “It was incredible. I liked it.”

But fans said they felt it was unfair that he was allowed to sing, writing online: “For the second week in a row Katya danced around a barely moving Wynne and singing is not dancing.”

“Wynn was not required to sing over and over again in dance competitions.”

“I wish it was a singing competition. How fair is it that Wynn gets to sing at the end? I always give him new rules and special treatment.’,

“Wynn just stood there while Katya danced around him and then spent the last 20 seconds singing (unless it’s a singing show) just wanting more attention.”

“These results are NOT consistent with what he did. I repeat thoughts from last week.

However, others loved his singing, writing: “Loved Wynn’s number and his powerful and inspiring message, not to mention the amazing vocals at the end!” He should be really proud!”

“Wynn may have sacrificed dancing for his passion for song choice. However, I enjoyed the performance.”

It comes after Wynn found himself at the center of controversy after a “vulgar” joke he reportedly made backstage was “leaked online.”

He reportedly joked that his double chin resembled a woman’s genitals while doing his makeup backstage.

Insiders claim Wynne made the off-color joke ahead of the BBC competition’s glitzy launch – and it was said in a private conversation with a make-up artist.

The source said Mirror: “It was a bit of a vulgar dad joke.”

The publication claims that at least one other person was in the room at the time, adding that the makeup artist was not offended by Wynn’s joke.

They say that although no formal complaints were made, employees were not surprised.

The insider added: “Winn clearly didn’t mean anything offensive, but you have to be a little careful these days.”

A friend of Wynn’s is said to have claimed that Wynn’s cheeky comment was “a piece of self-deprecation” and said it in confidence to the makeup artist in front of others.

The alleged prank came just weeks before the Welsh singer and actor became embroiled in a “wandering hand” incident with his professional partner Katya.

Viewers noticed Katya curl her toes, moving Winn’s hand away from her waist and dismissing his attempt to high-five her.

The dance partners then spent a week defending their awkward conversation during a live performance three weeks ago.

The incident caused such concern among senior BBC management, who had spent months battling allegations of misconduct in previous series, that a welfare investigation was launched.

Katya confirmed that she did not feel any discomfort and no further action was taken.
