Colman Domingo will receive the Best Actor Award

sing sing actor Colman Domingo will receive the Spotlight Acting Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, it was announced Monday.

Movie awards will take place on January 3, 2025, and the festival will last from January 2 to 13.

“We are thrilled to honor the extraordinary talent of Colman Domingo at the Palm Springs International Film Awards for the second year in a row. IN sing singColman Domingo presents another outstanding performance based on the true story of wrongly convicted Divine G who finds purpose in prison through acting on stage,” says festival chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandy. “For this incredibly raw and compelling performance, we are honored to present the Spotlight Actor Award to Colman Domingo.”

Domingo received the award last year for his performance in Rustinfor which he also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Past Spotlight Acting Award winners include Bryan Cranston for TrumboBrendan Fraser for Whale and Andrew Garfield for Hacksaw Ridgeall three were also nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor – Fraser won.

Among Domingo’s achievements: Ma Rainey’s black ass for which he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and a SAG Ensemble Award, as well as Zolafor which he was nominated for a Spirit Award and a Gotham Award. He won an Emmy in 2022 for his performance in Euphoria. His other credits include If Beale Street Could Talk, Without Remorse, Candyman, Assassination Nation, True Crime, Selma and Lee Daniels Butler.

He will be the next star of the limited series. Madness for Netflix November 28, as well as Michaelin which he plays Joe Jackson. He will also star in a Netflix comedy starring Tina Fey. Four seasons. He is repped by WME, Liebman Entertainment and Wolf-Kasteler Public Relations.

Last week the festival announced that Emilia Perez will receive this year’s Vanguard Award, which is “a group award given to the actors and director of a film in recognition of their collective work on an exceptional film project.”
