List of 2025 Palm Springs Film Festival winners

UPDATED with latest: Palm Springs Film Festival said today that Colman Domingo will receive a Spotlight Award, actor, for his “incredibly raw and gripping performance” in sing sing. The festival will take place from January 2 to 13 in the desert city east of Los Angeles, and the film awards will take place on January 3 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The festival will also honor Netflix Emilia Perez with the Avangard Award.

PREVIOUSLY, October 30: The Palm Springs Film Festival kicked off Wednesday with Netflix’s irreverent musical crime thriller Emilia Perez was awarded the Avangard festival prize. The award will be presented on January 3 during the Film Awards Gala, an event that has become a must-see for awards hopefuls.

The Avangard Award, a collective award given to a film’s actors and director in recognition of their work, will be presented to writer-director Jacques Audiard and actors Carla Sofia Gascon, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez and Edgar Ramirez, who are expected to attend the ceremony . at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

The film, which had its world premiere at Cannes, where Gascón, Saldaña and Gomez were awarded Best Actress, has since been selected as France’s entry for the International Oscars. The story centers on fearsome cartel leader Emilia (Gascon), who recruits Rita (Saldaña), an underappreciated lawyer stuck in a dead-end job, to help fake her death so Emilia can finally live truly as she truly is.

It debuts on Netflix on November 13th.

The film began its career at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize and its lead actresses shared the Best Actress prize. The Palm Springs Film Festival runs from January 2 to 13.
