UT Tyler and Tyler ISD sign agreement to send selected teachers to graduate school on fellowships

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Tyler ISD’s ONE Tyler program has been sending teachers to graduate school for the past seven years. Selected teachers will now study at the University of Texas at Tyler, with tuition paid by the district.

“We’re growing our own administrators because they know Tyler’s path, and now let’s just see if they can get a master’s degree and see if they can continue Tyler’s path and everything that we’ve put into place in our district,” Sheri Taylor said. , executive director of Tyler ISD. HR Director

Each year, four to seven teachers are selected from the staff who express interest and complete the application process. The goal of the program is to retain talented employees locally.

“We have a lot of confidence in our internal candidates because as we all know, the ability to attract qualified personnel from other parts of the state can be a little difficult here in East Texas,” said Tyler ISD Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford. .

Teachers are elected every fall.
