Harris campaign warns voters final election results could take ‘days’

Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign warned voters Monday that it could take days to tally the results of the 2024 presidential election, predicting some swing states might not have final results until Saturday.

President Joe Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 presidential election on the Saturday after Election Day, with final results to be tallied in Pennsylvania. This year’s election is expected to hinge on seven swing states, including the Keystone State.

Other swing states are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

“We think this race will be incredibly tight,” Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon told reporters. behind the Hill. “So we may not know the outcome of this election for several days, but we are very focused on remaining calm and confident throughout this period while the process is underway. And we do know that we as a campaign have a really important role to play in keeping people calm and communicating and keeping our process transparent.”

O’Malley Dillon said the campaign expects results to be “almost complete” in Georgia, North Carolina and Michigan on Tuesday, but expects only partial results in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Arizona that day.

The campaign said it expected “additional results” from Wisconsin and Pennsylvania on Wednesday, but final results from Arizona and Nevada could come later in the week as ballots in Nevada could arrive before Saturday if they are postmarked by Election Day.

“It just means we’ll continue to see reports of new votes for many days after Election Day, and that’s obviously not a sign of fraud, it’s just the way things work,” O’Malley Dillon said.
