Yakuza: Like A Dragon’s Battle menu reveals the essence of SEGA thanks to a joke on Twitter

Video games are created by teams of dozens, if not hundreds of people, meaning that every aspect of a given game has likely passed through many hands before it was released to the public. However, sometimes it takes an outsider to see the obvious. This was the case with the combat menu of the upcoming game Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and the results were quite funny.

Back in June, John Ricciardi, co-founder of the famous localization company 8-4, joked in a tweet that translators should change the combat menu of the eighth Yakuza game to the SEGA title. Well, as a recent behind-the-scenes video revealed, it looks like the localization team took Ricciardi’s advice.

As you can see from the two tweets above, the “More” option has changed to “Etc.”, meaning it now includes the name of the game’s publisher. It’s a nice touch that fits well with the silly, self-referential tone of the franchise.

As longtime Kiryu fans know, Yakuza: Like A Dragon is a soft reboot of the series and the first game to feature turn-based combat. The game originally released in Japan back in January, with an English version scheduled for release in November. It will be the launch title for Xbox Series X, with a PS5 release coming a little later.
