Giveaways for Kentucky hunters who submit deer samples for testing for chronic wasting disease.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is asking hunters to submit samples of legally harvested and televised deer for a chance to win one of five regional prizes.

The five regions include Bluegrass, Northeast, Southeast, Green River and Purchase. Based on the results of the deer season, a winner will be determined from each region. Prizes include gift cards ranging from $500 to $1,000 and a bow.

Hunters are automatically entered into the drawing when they provide a sample for chronic wasting disease. This can be done by throwing a deer head on one of the landing sites or by submitting a lymph node sample via mailing kit. All samples must come from deer hunted in Kentucky. Hunters must follow deer hunting rules and regulations.

Hunters in the CWD watch area with mandatory check stations, which includes Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Marshall and McCracken counties, should take their deer to be checked regardless. They will still be entered into the drawing.
