Look for over 100 poems to sing on SMRT train panels

If you like to read on the train, be sure to check out the poems by Singaporean writers that will be displayed on our trains until 30 October 2025. The initiative is part of a collaboration between the National Arts Council (NAC), Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Stellar Ace.

Produced by local literary non-profit Sing Lit Station (SLS).Poems on the subway aims to highlight Singapore Literature (Sing Lit), featuring over 100 Sing Lit poems in all four languages ​​- English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil – across East-West, North-South and Circle. Lines.

The project also aims to highlight Singapore’s diverse literary heritage across generations and poetic styles, from Cultural Medallion and Young Artist Award winners to emerging writers. In addition to these poems, be sure to look out for video interviews with local poets, as well as videos from local artists about the initiative that will be shown on train screens.

Moreover, until the end of this year, passengers will also be able to take part in Poems on the subway bingo competition via NAC website Here and Sing Lit Station’s social media pages. To play, simply download a digital copy of the bingo card, take a photo on the MRT panels of three poems that correspond to the different categories on the bingo card, and upload your materials via the Google Form. The first three successful entries will receive a Kobo reader with Sing Lit books pre-installed.
