Where to vote in the UK on election day. Here’s how to find your polling place.

Where to vote in the UK on election day. Here’s how to find your polling place.

The big day has finally arrived.

Today is Election Day, and if you haven’t taken advantage of early voting in South Carolina, now is the time to vote. But unlike during the early voting period, voters must go to their assigned polling place on Election Day to vote in the general election.

Polling stations will be open today from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, but if you don’t know where to go, we can help you. Below you’ll find tools to find your polling place, as well as some additional information you need to know before you vote.

How can I find my polling station in the UK?

South Carolina Election Commission has an easy method for finding polling places online. The only catch is that you have to register to vote. Unfortunately, if you are not registered, it will be too late to do so at the general election.

To find your polling station in the UK, click Here.

The link will take you to a site that will ask for basic information, including the county in which you are registered, your name, date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Fill out these details and the site will tell you your polling station and offer Google Maps directions on how to get there.

What to take with you to the elections?

Be sure to bring your South Carolina driver’s license to the polls.

If you don’t have a driver’s license, don’t worry. Other forms of identification are accepted, including:

  • UK Department of Motor Vehicles identification card including UK Concealed Weapon Permit.

  • SK voter registration card with photo

  • US passport

  • Federal military ID, which includes all Department of Defense photo identification cards and a Department of Veterans Affairs benefit card.

What if you have a photo ID but forgot to bring it with you?

Even if you don’t have your photo ID with you at the polling place, you can still vote with a provisional ballot. However, your ballot will only be counted if you show your photo ID at your county voter registration office before the certification of the election, which is usually Thursday or Friday.
