A doctor has shared his top five tips for fighting stomach bloating and relieving the very painful symptoms.

The feeling of bloating can be caused by many reasons. For women, this may be related to your menstrual cycle. It could also be a byproduct of irritable bowel syndromecommonly known as IBS.

According to Dr. Yoon, fermented foods such as sauerkraut, miso, kombucha, cheese, olives and yogurt can be very good for soothing the gut.

These foods contain bacteria that are actually beneficial for the digestive system.

These bacteria kill harmful bacteria and fungi in the intestines, preventing them from producing excess gas that feels trapped.

Carbonated drinks? Cut them out

Opening a fizzy drink may make you feel like it’s just what the doctor ordered, but in reality, they can cause a lot of problems.

After all, who hasn’t had a can of Pepsi or a bottle of lager with a meal? Well, the effervescence of drinks itself can be a big problem, along with other troubles inside the drinks.

“Having a lot of harmful gut bacteria can cause health problems. Excessive amounts of sugar can actually feed unhealthy gut bacteria and give you an unhealthy microbiome,” Dr. Yoon said.

“So drinking a lot of sugary drinks, such as soda, can increase the amount of unhealthy gut bacteria and can then make bloating worse.

Rethinking Dairy and Gluten

Dr. Yoon says you may well not know you’re allergic to dairy or foods containing gluten, and explains that seven percent of people have sensitivity to gluten in the foods they eat.

It may be worth trying to eliminate them, or eliminate certain forms of them that you think are causing your bloating, to see if you feel better.

He said: “If you have a problem with bloating, I would suggest just trying cutting out dairy and gluten for a few weeks and see how your bloating might improve.”

According to Harvard Medical School, unless you have an intolerance, there’s no point in cutting them out completely.

Have a cup of tea – but not this kind

Instead of the traditional English cup of tea, try an alternative. Specifically, peppermint.

“It relaxes the muscles of the digestive tract and allows gases to move more freely through the digestive tract,” the doctor said.

“If you have problems with bloating, I would recommend drinking one to two cups every day.”

Probiotics, a reliable alternative to fermented foods, can be purchased at most stores and various online retailers.

You can get them in the form of yogurt or dietary supplements, so there are many ways to get them into your body.

Dr. Yoon explained, “Technically, this shouldn’t replace eating good fermented foods, but a daily probiotic containing at least three to five billion colony-forming units can be beneficial for your gut, gut microbiome, and bloating issues. “
