House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told “Good Morning America” Monday that Democrats are “on the right side” on the most pressing issues in the presidential election.

“Fringe MAGA Republicans have been clear and unequivocal about what they will do to move America forward,” Jeffries said.

“They will come out with a blowtorch on Social Security, they will come out with a blowtorch on Medicare, they will come out with a blowtorch on the Affordable Care Act,” Jeffries said.

Vice President Kamala Harris, Jeffries said, is “coming out of the meeting with a positive vision” while former President Donald Trump and his Republican Party are “trying to tear us apart.”

Jeffries will become House speaker if Democrats regain control of the chamber this week.

“A majority of current House Republicans voted not to certify the 2020 election results,” Jeffries said. “My colleagues on the other side seem unable to say unequivocally that they will affirm the election and the verdict of the American people.”

“As House Democrats, that’s what we will do,” Jeffries added.

“We believe in democracy, even when we disagree with its outcome. It’s part of what made America the greatest democracy in the history of the world.”
