CNS and doctors’ union settle dispute over digital health app

The National Health Fund CNS and the Association of Doctors and Dentists (AMMD) have settled a dispute over the digitalization of the healthcare sector, CNS reported on Monday.

At the center of the controversy is the Digital Health Network (DHN) app, also known as the Health Network.Gesondheetsapp– it allows patients to make appointments, exchange medical documents and pay medical bills directly.

The Association of Doctors and Dentists commissioned the company to develop the application in 2018, investing 4.5 million euros in the project.

Meanwhile, the CNS was working on Dossier de Soens Partage (DSP) – a shared online database for patients and doctors – and Payment immediate direct (PID), which will allow patients to pay their out-of-pocket medical bill directly at the doctor’s office.

Tensions continued between the two groups and approaches to the digital system, with the AMMD criticizing the CNS system for not relying enough on the knowledge of health care providers.

AMMD and CNS now aim to create an integrated system that will simplify access to health care services while reducing administrative barriers by pooling their resources and expertise. Wort reported.

Doctors in Luxembourg have remained hesitant to implement the CNS system since its launch last September, with less than 5% (or 111 doctors out of more than 2,100) having joined by the end of May.

Since then, however, the direct payment system has seen a surge in physician sign-ups, with nearly 500 doctors and dentists signing up for the service by the end of September.
