Election Security Updates: Voting Hours Extended in Pennsylvania County

Georgia’s top election official expressed confidence Tuesday morning that the vast majority of election results will be available this evening in the critical battleground state, saying the state’s Election Day was “generally smooth” and a “terrific” day. .

Speaking specifically about the timing, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said the state’s 4 million early votes, as well as absentee ballots, will be downloaded and reported no later than an hour after polls close, which for most locations will be 7 p.m.

“So by 8 p.m. you’ll probably have 99% of it… so you’ll have a good idea of what the race looks like,” he said.

As for tonight’s vote, Raffensperger said, “You’ll have it all before the end of the night.” He noted that smaller districts aim to submit all their results “at the latest” by 10:30 p.m.

Notably, Raffensperger was also asked about Tuesday’s bomb threats, which he said were “Russian in origin.”

“We identified the source, and it was from Russia,” he said, after briefly clarifying the source.

“They seem to be up to no good,” he said of Russia. “They are not our friends. Anyone who thinks they are friends doesn’t read the newspapers.”

Raffensperger said he believes they will reach 1 million votes today and said they are prepared for any legal challenge.

“We will follow the law, the Constitution and accurately report the results.”
