Madhya Pradesh: Flies stuck to suspect’s clothes helped police solve Jabalpur murder case – MP News

Flies stuck on the clothes of a 19-year-old suspect prompted police to crack a murder case in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district, officials said on Tuesday.

The suspect, identified as Dharam Thakur, was arrested for allegedly killing his uncle Manoj Thakur alias Mannu (26) following a dispute over money, Additional Superintendent of Rural Police Sonali Dubey told reporters on Monday.

On the morning of October 30, the victim left home for work, but returned only in the evening. She said the body was discovered on October 31 in an agricultural field in Deori Tapria village.

Dubey said the accused was the last person seen with the victim at the market in Chargavan district.

The accused, who was present in the crowd at the murder scene, had bloodshot eyes and marks on his chest, Chargawan police station in-charge Abhishek Pyasi told PTI on Tuesday.

“While questioning the man’s whereabouts, I noticed that flies continued to cling to some of his belongings, leading to the suspicion of blood stains. Because he was wearing dark clothes, the blood stains were not visible,” he said.

The official said that the forensic team present at the spot examined the clothes of the accused and found that there were blood stains on them.

The defendants initially maintained their innocence but later pleaded guilty, he said.

The forensic laboratory also found blood stains on small pieces of wood lying near the body, Dubey said.

After questioning the accused, it was revealed that he was accompanying his uncle and CCTV footage in the area also confirmed this, she said.

She said investigations revealed that the accused was last seen with the deceased at the market in Chargavan, where they bought liquor and chicken.

They later had an argument over the amount of money spent on the items, she said.

The accused allegedly hit the victim with an object containing nails and ran away. The victim received serious injuries and died,” the department reported.

After questioning the accused, police also recovered the murder weapon, she said.
