Free workshops are available to help young creatives develop their camera skills.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) – Calling all young creatives interested in photography and videography! You have the opportunity to develop your skills for for free thanks to the Memphis Music Initiative’s (MMI) Free Play series.

Over the next three Saturdays in November, MMI will host workshops to help young creatives improve their portfolios.

Events are open to persons aged 16 to 30 years. Four participants will walk away with a paid opportunity.

Participants will work with cameras, tapes and more.

MMI says the free-to-play series helps Memphis creatives get the exposure they deserve without limits.

“Any artist knows that such recordings are expensive. And if you’re starting out as a photographer or videographer, it’s hard to get those opportunities when you’re just starting out,” said Brandi Casseus of MMI. “So, I want them to leave with real, meaningful help. It’s just free help, free resources, and since we’re the Grizzlies’ next-door neighbors, why not give them some free play?”

The first workshop will take place on Saturday, November 9th.

The final workshop will culminate with an open mic event at the end of the month.

Remember, the master class is free, but you must register to participate.
